Mainstream Renewable Power awarded CPD Accredited Employer standard
Mainstream Renewable Power (MRP) has become the latest organisation to be awarded the prestigious CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Accredited Employer standard from Engineers Ireland. The award follows an audit of the company’s lifelong learning practices for their engineering professionals.
Commenting on the achievement, John Power, Chartered Engineer and Director General of Engineers Ireland, said: “Congratulations to Mainstream Renewable Power on achieving this important award. By investing in its engineers, Mainstream Renewable Power is in turn investing in the future of the organisation. Engineers continue to have real career options and the demand for engineers of all backgrounds in Ireland in rising especially in the energy, technology and biomedical areas. Ireland needs more students choosing engineering in college. An engineering position in an renewable energy firm is an example of the career variety and opportunity that is open to engineering graduates in Ireland today”
Commenting on the award, Eddie O’Connor, Chief Executive said: “Mainstream Renewable Power is engaged in delivering innovative and visionary engineering developments involving multiple stakeholders across numerous jurisdictions. Groundbreaking projects such as the Energy Bridge which will see Mainstream building 5,000MW of wind energy in Ireland and exporting it to the UK from 2017 calls for new ways of solving complex issues. The Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited employer framework certainly helps our people in this process as well as giving Mainstream additional international recognition across all markets”
Established in 2008, MRP develop and build wind and solar energy plants both on and off shore. Headquartered in Dublin, the renewable energy firm has an office in Edenderry, Co Offaly with further office locations in eleven other countries outside of Ireland. They currently employ 68 engineers with a total staff of 167.
